Using a blog to share the gospel

Salt Lake Temple

At my graduation Elder M. Russell Ballard spoke about using the Internet to share the gospel. He mentioned how influential blogging can be. He encouraged us to not be shy about posting gospel related topics or stories and he also suggested commenting on other people’s blogs and striking up conversations about the Church. He told us to defend the Church if we ever see anything that isn’t accurate and to download videos etc. from Church websites. Overall, I felt like it was something every Church member should read not just those graduating from BYU-Idaho. It’s called “Making your Influence Felt”

I challenge myself and everyone else to talk more openly about the Church on their blogs and with friends and neighbors. Just as an example of how I am going to do better- as I was looking over my past blog entries I saw that when I posted wedding pictures I could have shared my thoughts on the Temple etc. I love the Church and I am so grateful for my membership in it. It brings peace to my crazy life and provides purpose to all that I do. I know who I am and I know that God is real and that He loves me and knows everything about me. He is interested in our lives and cares very much what happens to us. Yes, there are a lot of bad things in the world but there are also so many good- we just need to re focus our attention.

  1. You are awesome Britt!! I’m not too shy about posting about churchy stuff, but I know I could do more, especially since some family members aren’t members/less active. I’ll try to do better! And did you know Elder Ballard was at MY graduation too!!! He must be the apostle on the 4-year rotation! Hahaha!! Thanks for your comments, they are my favorite!! Except everytime I see “Ben said…” I freak out and wonder who the heck “Ben” is! hahahahaha!! I’m dumb! Well, I LOVE YOU!

  2. Hey there this is your old carpool buddy. It’s kind of funny I just came across your blog. I just started one up because of the following thing you mention about graduation! Graduation was fun! Congrats on your baby.

  3. I randomly came to your blog after googling the Salt Lake Temple…So I think you are accomplishing just what you set out to do. Good work đŸ™‚

  4. I have to say, that just like Angie – I came across your website because I was googling pictures of the temple as well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the Church and being a good example of being a doer of the word and not just a hearer alone.

  5. ok so I was looking up temple pictures and found this site. I have know idea who this is but considering the fact of me being a member I figure I will write in here. I am young, 17, but strongly believe in the church! This church is the true church of Christ, I so testify that the spirit is real. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. Anything is possible through Christ and your life is much easier with him. Being on the football team I deal with a lot of people with no standards in life. I know that we can be an example to them. You can touch peoples lives without talking. “It’s better to be respected than to be popular” -John Bytheway, This is so true, popularity doesn’t define the person you are, character does. I want to end this little speech of a moment that I’m having by bearing my testimony that trials and temptations are something that we learn from. The lord puts these things in our path to teach us. I know that he always makes a way out for us. Christ is real and The Church of Jesus Christ is true and it changes your life eternally. I say these words in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

    Thanks sincerely,
