What’s next?

Ben at the DC Temple (My old home!)

Many of you, including myself, have been wondering what our next step is going to be. It’s now the second week into May and we are still no closer to finding out.

Here are our options:

D.C. (The picture is of Ben the last time he flew back there to interview.) Ben has been offered a job at the Census Bureau. However, we don’t know when it starts. He has one more week to tell them yes or no. It pays pretty good and has great benefits, but it is working for the government.

New Jersey right across from Manhattan. Ben has also been offered a job with the Charles G. Koch Foundation. This job starts June 1st yet we don’t know the salary or benefits etc. This is the job that most interests Ben. He would be surrounded by people who share his passion for Liberty and the free market. He would be working with a research team and even holding press conferences to reveal his findings.

Phoenix with U.S. Airways. Ben just recently flew back there and interviewed so he hasn’t heard back from them yet. We did find out that this job has the best perk out of all of them. We can fly free where ever their airline flys. Plus discounts on all other flights and even cruises. Sounds soooo good! I’ve always wanted to travel and this would be my chance.
We are so excited for this next step in our lives-especially the baby! The sky is the limit and we plan to take advantage of it. It’s nerve racking to me to not know where we are going and when but I’m just grateful to have a husband who is qualified for so many neat jobs. He’s the man!
As soon as I know anything I promise to post an update. Until then…… we all wait!

  1. Waiting is no fun! Sounds like you guys have some great options. I do have to say one thing- working for the government isn’t that bad… at least they won’t own your husband like they do mine! 😉 It’s going to be a tough choice, but I think through a lot of prayer you guys will figure out what is best for you at this time in your lives. I’m so excited for you, and would love to visit you wherever you go! I can’t wait to see you Saturday!

  2. Where’s option #4 – Rexburg, ID?? #1 perk: being my neighbor! Hello, that is WAY cooler than flying anywhere you want to go for free. Hahaha. I WISH that was an option! I’m excited to hear what you guys will choose! Good Luck! And I am oh so excited to see you this weekend. It has been FOREVER!!! Hope your belly is ready cuz you know I’m going to give little Hallie a rub or two! Fun fun. And p.s. I approve your chocolate milk habit. You can still be in the no-sweets gang. Oh boy, am I dying or what…I’ve been craving SnoShack and chocolate of course…only 25 more days. YIKES! I might break before then!! Haha…jeesh I might as well have emailed, this is one heck of a comment! Anyways….LOVE YOU!!!! See you SOOOOOON! 🙂

  3. Wow you could be back in DC?? How cool is that! Well wherever you go, it sounds like it will be an adventure! By the way, thanks for posting the pumpkin bread recipe. My husband wanted me to bake something for a class he goes to, and so I thought I would try out your recipe (mainly because it seemed so easy!) I was happy with how it came out–thanks! Hope you are doing well! Good luck making your big decision!

  4. Those all sound like great options, though I have to say Phoenix is great because Mario and I are here:) We love the valley and the summers aren’t babd as long as you have air conditioning. Actually, we are planning to sell our house here next summer and move back to D.C. for a few years to have Mario finish school. So either way, we will probably have a good chance to see each other:)
