This past week Ben’s mom, LaRae, flew into town and she hasn’t stopped spoiling me since. Tuesday morning we took a train into New York City where we stayed until Friday. I have never seen so many people or buildings in my entire life!
The night we got into New York we took a taxi to our Hotel and then bought tickets for the tour buses that take you around town. There honestly isn’t a better deal- for $50.00 we got an unlimited 48 hour pass for any of the tour bus routes. We went everywhere!! Some of the highlights were the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Times Square, Harlem, and Brooklyn. We went shopping and I bought some killer (post pregnancy)brown boots for a bargain deal and a ball cap for Ben. The most memorable part of the trip was going to the Broadway show Wicked. LaRae has a friend who works in New York and hooked us up with the best seats in the house. We were like giddy little girls, we were so excited. The play was phenomenal. I have never seen anything like it and there are not words to express how much I enjoyed it. The tickets were worth all $250 dollars a piece!
A funny aspect of the trip was the fact that I am eight months pregnant and very large. I think I saw maybe 4-5 other pregnant women in New York the entire trip. Every one stared at me. After a while I wanted to start waving at people or act like I was going into labor just to see their reactions. I received several congratulations from people as I walked down the street and the best part was that I got to go to the front of all the bathroom lines. Being pregnant in New York is definitely different than being pregnant in Utah that’s for sure! haha
The best part of the trip was being able to spend some time with LaRae. She is an incredible woman who has raised my incredible husband. She runs her own successful company called American Promotions as well as raises her two boys who are still at home. On top of that she supports her two missionaries who are presently serving in California and Africa, and is in the Relief Society presidency. And she does it all with a smile! Thanks LaRae for a wonderful trip it was fabulous!!!
Hey Britt! What a cute post! I’m giong to warn you- my reply is going to be forever long, because I have so much to say about your trip! New York is one of my favorite places to vacation- I love everything about it! Ok, so sometimes it stinks, but it’s all part of the fun! I am dying to go see Wicked! I’ve heard it’s such an amazing show- I’m so jealous of you and your great seats! One day I will do it… Also, next trip I am going to take that tour bus… I never have, and it seems like we end up walking 20 miles every day! It looks like you saw everything!
Next thing that makes me laugh is your comments about being pregnant outside of Utah!! It is so true what you say- in fact, when I recently went to the doctors appointment to discuss a possible upcoming pregnancy, I really wanted validation from him and for him to make me feel special because I, after five years of marriage, have FINALLY decided it might be time, and I had questions and concerns and wanted him to make me feel like i’m the only person that mattered and feel so special because it was finally time for me… I got nothing- he treated me like every other twenty-something pregnant chick in utah! Looks like I’ll have to have one of my kids outside of here to get that validation! Anyway- your post made me smile- and I couldn’t help but think of my feelings. Part of me wants to not live in Utah when I get pregnant because you really are one in a very small few that is. Anyway- this is a novel- you look great, and i love ya!
SOOOO FUN!! I’ve been telling James for months how bad I want to go on a trip to NY! I haven’t been since I was a little girl and James has never been! Anyways, looks like you had SO much fun! I love that you were one of five other prego ladies in the whole city! hahaha. You are hilarious! And you are looking GREAT! Did you get my self-esteem boosting email? Hopefully it didn’t make you vomit. hahahaha. I’m such a dork, but you still love me! Riiiight? 😉 Well I hope things are going well back in DC and that things are settling down to get ready for your BABY!!! I’m so excited for you Britt!! Hope to talk to you soon! Love ya!
I’m so glad you had a good time in New York. I did too! New York was great, but spending time getting to know you was even better. Thanks for the awesome memories. Love, LaRae
I love your site!! You are too cute. Looks like a great trip to New York. You have so much energy! I am so glad you moved out here. I could always use more spunk in my life.
