This was our second fourth of July in the Nation’s Capitol and we can’t think of anywhere better to be on our Nation’s birthday. We love living here, especially on holidays like this one. Our wonderful adopted family the Stoker’s took us down town to the national mall where we spent the day filling our belly’s with Carol’s yummy food and chatting away with good friends. Last year it was soooo hot but then again I was also sooo pregnant and that in itself increases your temperature by like 10 degrees. π Anyway, this year the weather could not have been better. It was over cast for most of the day with a slight breeze yet it never rained or got unbearably hot. PERFECT! We were worried about how Hallie would do staying up way later than her normal bedtime but she did really good-that is until we got in the car to go home. Poor Stoker’s having to listen to Hallie scream herself to sleep.
The fourth of July is one of my top holidays. Second only to Christmas and tied with Thanksgiving. I love the history of our Country and I love fireworks! I am so grateful to live in America and enjoy all the freedoms that we enjoy. I just hope we don’t give up too many of them hoping to be safer. Anyway, I won’t get political on you. haha
Here are some pictures of our fun day.

My new favorite photo
Hallie Bug
Hallie finally taking a nap in Dad’s arms
Hallie and Gabe playing
Hal discovered that now with 4 teeth she could eat an apple!
And boy did she eat it!!
That’s amazing!!
Hallie got nervous when the fireworks started, but she never cried. I’m covering her ear in the picture not restraining her. π Β She looks miserable in these two pictures-poor thing. At least the fireworks kept her attention she couldn’t take her eyes off them.
My old mission companion Sarah was in town and spent the afternoon with us. I love her!!

Thanks again Randal and Carol for bringing us along!! We loved it!
I LOVE Hallies fourth of july outfit! looks like you had fun, what a fun place to watch fireworks!
What a fun fourth! I can’t think of a better place to be then where you are. Hallie is so cute.
What a fun 4th! You are such a cute family. Love ya!
Just catching up on your blog. First off, awesome job on your 5k. Seriously, your time was way good. Secondly, what a great idea to list your weekly menu (maybe your menu will become my menu). Looks like a lot of yummy recipes. And lastly how fun it must be to live in the nations capital.
Looks like fun. Hallie is just so cute. And you look great too! Congratulations on finishing the big run too. You are truly an inspiration π
Hey, it was good to hear from you. It looks like you had a fun Fourth of July. I’m jealous that you guys got to see fireworks. Although, sitting in the hospital with your newborn baby isn’t half bad either. Your little girl is so cute and growing so fast. I can’t believe she’s almost a year old. CRAZY! I hope you guys are enjoying DC, although, you guys should really consider Austin, it’s great! JK, but it would be fun.
Such cute pictures!!! I wish I could have been there too! I LOVE DC! Here in Vegas we were spoiled all summer with amazing weather in the 80’s up until two or three weeks ago. Now it’s triple digits…which is fine…fortunately my husband and I tolerate the heat very well. But the nice weather was fantastic while it lasted! Everyone kept on say how odd it was for the weather being so mild. Either way, we love it here. And yes, I will post that recipe once I get my little hands on it! I LOVE cooking! My sister will be visiting next week, so I’ll have to remind myself to get it from her. π Hopefully your summer is going great!
Cute pictures! That would be the best place to be for the 4th! How fun! I had to cover my girls ears too for fireworks, they were both in my lap through it all π
The 4th in DC really has to be amazing!! Maybe I can start saving my pennies and be there next year!!!!! How cool would that be?? π I LOVE Hallie’s outfit, she’s such a cutie pie! And I love that she went to town on that apple! Thanks for your comment, I LOOOOVE to hear from you and I miss you!! I WIIIISH I could come see you when you’re in U-T-A-W!!! I was feeling pretty good (besides being a COW and getting exhausted pretty easily) but today I started feeling it…I’m SOOOO ready to be done and have this little princess here. I slept all afternoon (luckily Avri did too, my sweet hubby put her down before he left for work) and haven’t been feeling too great…kindof a Braxton Hicks/sick to my stomach combo. BLAH!! MY csection is planned for 2 weeks…but MAYBE she’ll come early!!! Yeah right!! π Well, I guess I should’ve just emailed or called…this is a novel!! LOVE YOU A TRILLION swedish fish!! π
